ENGINE TUNING / DIAGNOSTICS
Modern cars today no longer offer the ability to be “tuned up” because they are run by very complicated computer / management systems. So when a customer comes in to us & asks for a “tune up” we go to considerable trouble to establish exactly what their problem with the car is. Frequently the fault will lay in a sensor or dirty actuator. This is where our diagnostic equipment, many hours of training & years of experience on most makes of vehicles, comes into its own.
We have a cost effective system that we work to which gets to the cause of the problem in as little time as possible. This in turn keeps the customers bill to a minimum & gets the car back on the road as quick as possible.
We will systematically check & test signals, components, wiring & motors all the way back to the main Engine Control Unit. We are not in the habit of just changing components with the idea that “it’s probably this unit” which is the way many people operate now a days.
On the odd occasion there is a deep routed management fault which is proving problematic; we have a ceiling price for the diagnostics of such a fault. On the positive side the customer knows that it will not cost more than the set figure but on the down side it could take us days to trace the cause of the fault. Upon accurate diagnostics we can then quote the customer for repair or replacement of the component that is faulty or the customer can accept our diagnostics & take the car away & repair or replace the component them selves.
We not only carry out customer work but also carry out repairs / diagnostics for many other garages in the area that are unable to test the modern vehicle. We are only too keen to help whether it’s a retail customer or another garage. We are flexible!
